Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the incumbent is responsible for supporting him or her in the process of purchasing merchandise. He/she is primarily responsible for negotiating prices and business agreements with different suppliers as well as for various projects in the purchasing department. He/she is also responsible for managing inventory levels, ensuring pricing accuracy, placing and monitoring important orders, credits, and merchandise returns, and managing related systems.

 

Primary duties:

  • Contact suppliers and negotiate pricing and delivery agreements for the supply of raw materials
  • Order all components needed for the completion of projects and bid prices for special projects in collaboration with the technical team
  • Identify and examine other supply sources; negotiate with suppliers for important and complex orders
  • Find alternative solutions in the event of inventory shortages and propose substitute product purchases
  • Stay updated on physical inventory and collaborate with biannual stocktaking
  • Verify that prices and delivery agreements are negotiated in order to maintain material inventory at appropriate levels and according to budgetary constraints
  • Ensure and monitor suppliers' compliance regarding quantities, quality, prices, and delivery conditions and take corrective measures in the event of discrepancies
  • Ensure the monitoring of our suppliers' targets established at the beginning of the year in terms of agreements for annual volume discounts
  • Offer support needed to internal departments for any request for technical information
  • Assume any other responsibility and execute all other tasks related to the position

Requirements:

  • Collegiate or university degree in a field related to the position
  • At least 5 years of experience as a buyer
  • Experience in purchasing finishing products (a plus)

Skills:

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Bilingualism
  • Working knowledge of Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize and manage several files at the same time
  • Ability to concentrate in an open and dynamic environment
