Job description

Reporting to the director of purchasing, the successful candidate will help ensure that the department’s strategic goals and annual targets are met. Working at our Saint-Rémi site, they will manage our day-to-day procurement operations and oversee the multi-site purchasing team. They will plan all procurement activities for Groupe Intermat. 

Primary duties

  • Manage and support the purchasing team to ensure they meet their goals and the needs of our business units in accordance with company policies
  • Maintain open communication with your team and internal and external stakeholders
  • Select, negotiate with and assess suppliers to meet the company’s needs in terms of price, delivery, quality and quantity and ensure that they are monitored for quality and efficiency
  • Optimize supply management by implementing efficient procedures based on continuous improvement principles
  • Design, develop and propose purchasing strategies based on the company’s financial and material resources and market issues
  • Pursue business opportunities with new suppliers as required
  • Purchase materials, components and equipment from external suppliers
  • Actively participate in the implementation of the ERP system and process improvement
  • Ensure that complaints are handled effectively
  • Perform all other related tasks 

Knowledge and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, operations management or equivalent
  • 5 to 10 years of experience managing a purchasing department
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of the construction industry (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Bilingual
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Good teamwork and communication skills

Working conditions

  • Permanent, full-time job (40 hours)
